Boykin Management Company Appoints Key Individuals
Boykin Hospitality is pleased to announce the promotion and appointment of several key operations executives reflecting both the recent and anticipated growth of the management portfolio.
Ron Pohl, Senior Vice President of Sales & Revenue Management
In his new capacity, Mr. Pohl will be providing sales, marketing and revenue management
leadership and direction to our managed properties.
Most recently, Mr. Pohl served as the Regional Vice President and General Manager of the
Cleveland Airport Marriott hotel, a property managed by Boykin since 1971. As Regional
Vice President, Mr. Pohl was responsible for six full service properties with combined
annual revenues in excess of $60 million. During his 20-year tenure with Boykin Hospitality, Mr. Pohl
has held several other senior management positions including General Manager in our Columbus
Marriott North and Cleveland Airport Marriott properties and Corporate Director of Rooms
Operations. Mr. Pohl received the Marriott Excellence in Sales Leadership award for
2002.
David Lutz, Director of Hotel Accounting
In his new capacity, Mr. Lutz will be providing accounting and financial leadership and
direction to our managed properties.
Most recently, Mr. Lutz had been with Hilton Hotels Corporation as Vice President of
Operations Finance & Centralized Accounting. In this capacity, David managed and directed
a centralized accounting operation with a staff of 50 employees with responsibility for
complete financials for 75 properties. In addition, David was a key member of the
Corporate Finance team, responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual review of
financial and operating results of over 325 hotels, as well as, managed owner relations
and financial reporting and analysis requirements for major hotel ownership groups. Prior
to this position, David served as Vice President Financial Planning and Analysis for
over 200 hotels during the merger of DoubleTree Hotels and Promus Hotels, preceded by
both regional controller and controller assignments for both DoubleTree and Guest
Quarters. Mr. Lutz received his B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of
Scranton Pennsylvania
Marc Langevin, Regional Director of Operations
In his new capacity, Mr. Langevin will be providing operational leadership and direction to our managed properties.
Most recently, Mr. Langevin had been the Executive Assistant Manager at the Ritz-Carlton Cleveland. Marc brings a wide variety of experience to the position having worked at the Mobil 5-Star rated Beverly Hills Hotel, Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, as well as the Flamingo Hilton & Towers, also in Las Vegas. Additional time had been spent at various Club Med resorts around the world. Marc is fluent in English, French, and German and has also taught at the Community College of Southern Nevada within the hospitality program. Mr. Langevin received his Baccalaureate in Paris in 1980 and relocated to the United States in 1989.
Diane Schmidt, Senior Vice President of Sales & Revenue Management
In her new capacity, Ms. Schmidt will be providing sales, marketing and revenue
management leadership and direction to our managed properties.
Most recently, Ms. Schmidt had been the General Manager at the Ontario Airport
Marriott in Ontario, California capping a 20-year distinguished career with
Interstate Hotels and Resorts. While at Interstate, Ms. Schmidt also served
as the General Manager at the Lexington Hotel in Phoenix, AZ. Ms. Schmidts
initial twelve years with Interstate were spent in Sales and Marketing at
Marriotts Casa Marina Resort and Marriotts Reach Resort, both located in
Key West, Florida. From there Ms. Schmidt moved into Rooms Division and
General Manager positions within the two Key West properties.
While at Interstate, Ms. Schmidt received numerous awards including Hotel
Sales Team of the Year, Director of Sales & Marketing of the Year, Transient
Sales Team of the Year, Best Rooms Department Profit, Best Rooms Department, Best
Performance Under Adverse Conditions, and Outstanding Improvement in Guest
Satisfaction. Marriott awards included Most Improved Guest Satisfaction
Survey Results, Associate Excellence and Most Improved Product Index. Ms. Schmidt
holds a degree in Marketing Management from Barry University in Miami
Shores.
Jeff Price, Regional Director of Operations
In his new capacity, Mr. Price will be providing operational leadership and direction
to our managed properties.
Mr. Price joined Boykin in July of 2002 as General Manager of the Knoxville Hilton and
brought with him 22 years of hospitality operations experience. Prior to joining
Boykin, Mr. Price held several Executive Committee positions during his 16-year tenure
with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, followed by increased responsibilities with Interstate
Hotels Corporation and the Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa. Mr. Price holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
