Boykin Management Company Promotes
Joe Smith to Executive Vice President/Director of Operations
Boykin Hospitality is pleased to announce the promotion of Joseph Smith to Executive Vice
President and Director of Operations for the western region of the United States, reflecting
both the recent and anticipated continued growth of the management portfolio while
strengthening the current executive team through internal promotions.
In his new capacity, Mr. Smith will be providing leadership and direction to our full
service properties located mainly in the south central and western United States and
will be reporting directly to Robert Boykin, Chairman of Boykin Hospitality.
Most recently, Mr. Smith had been the Senior Vice President of Asset & Tenant Management
for Boykin Lodging Company (BOY-NYSE). Mr. Smith also brings extensive operational
experience into his new role as he held several positions within Boykin Management
Company since 1985, prior to joining Boykin Lodging Company. During his tenure with
BMC, Mr. Smith held the position of Regional Vice President, General Manager positions
at three Marriott Hotels, Corporate Director of Food & Beverage, and Food & Beverage
Director, among others. Prior to his Boykin years, Joe held various positions within
both T.G.I. Fridays and American Airlines, adding additional hospitality and travel
related experience.
Mr. Smith received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin and has been a member
of the Hotel Asset Managers Association (HAMA), National Hotel/Motel Association, and
Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association (HEDNA).
